Hard Action

HARD ACTION is not much of a movie, typical XXX fare reissued on Vol. 120 of Something Weird’s Dragon Art Theatre series. It mainly showcases the talents of forgotten performer Norman Fields.He is someone I would call a porno character actor -I guess the N.Y. equivalent would be R. Bolla. But unlike Bolla he has never acquired a following or achieved the cult status accorded his female co-stars from these 1-day wonders.Fields plays ex-con Harry Udo (I suppose his name is a nod to Richard Widmark’s breakthrough KISS OF DEATH character Tommy Udo). He’s out for revenge against the cop (Ralph Stephens, an unfamiliar performer) who put him behind bars, and naturally he takes it out on the cop’s family.That summarizes the entire plot, merely an excuse for real-time, cheap hardcore action (title certainly fits). Female cast is terrific: busty Nora Wieternik as the ultra-horny cop’s wife, and beautiful Jill Sweete and Sandy Carey as the daughters.SWV presents a very nice print on video, unlike the usual mangled-by-Dragon-Art projectionist quality. There’s lots of silliness to keep the viewer alert, such as Brandy masturbating with a huge dildo to a bluesy version of “I’m a Woman, W-O-M-A-N” on the soundtrack; Fields keeping his black socks on (stag film-style) during his sex scenes; Brandy occasionally crying out “rape” during an obviously willing encounter with Fields, etc.Later reels turn the picture into an incest movie, as the sisters have lesbian sex as part of their threesome after being kidnapped and taken to Fields’ warehouse hideout, followed by the parents arriving for an all-out orgy with them. Punchline has the cop saying “The family that plays together stays together”, quite typical of the doggerel that concludes so many of these “incest is best”-themed porn junkers.For the record, Fields gave real and often funny performances in both softcore and hardcore movies. What surprises me is that he has a large package that unlike similarly sized John Holmes not only achieves but maintains an erection. The porn gods for some reason anointed Johnny Wadd as an all-time icon, though overlooked Fields has him beat in every department.
